Kitchen Remodel in New City, NY — Built So Well, the Client Ordered It Twice
“BEFORE” PHOTOS:
A few years ago, we designed and built this elegant kitchen for a client in New City—a project that was as much about precision and planning as it was about style. The design phase alone took several months, fine-tuning every detail to ensure that the appliances, fixtures, and finishes didn’t just fit the space, but truly belonged in the home.
The installation phase was equally technical. The island, in particular, was assembled piece-by-piece on site, carefully cut and fitted to achieve exact alignment and proportion. Once the cabinetry was set, we spent additional weeks dialing in the finishing touches—fixtures, accents, and lighting—until the kitchen felt complete, balanced, and distinctly right for the homeowner.
This kitchen remodel in New City, NY was driven by clear planning, strong layout logic, and precise execution. Every decision—from wall removal to appliance placement—was made to improve flow, functionality, and long-term usability. The result was a kitchen that worked so well for the homeowner that when he purchased a second house with the same floor plan on the same block, he requested the same kitchen be recreated—detail for detail.
About a year later, he sold the home.
Not long after that, he bought another house—on the same block, with the same floor plan, proportions, and architectural style. That’s when we got the call:
“Hey guys… I need another kitchen.
And I want the same one.
Not a version of it—the exact same kitchen.”
Same colors. Same layout. Same details.
If it works beautifully the first time… why change it?
We got right back to work recreating the kitchen from the ground up. As with the original project, the construction scope was significant. Walls separating the kitchen and dining room were removed to open the space. An oversized dining room window was replaced with a double sliding door leading to a newly enclosed porch. In the kitchen, a new window was installed to relocate the sink and dishwasher—creating a clear visual line from the entry stairs straight through to the backyard.
If you’re considering a kitchen renovation that requires more than surface updates—one that demands real problem-solving and precision—this is the kind of transformation we specialize in.
This change also allowed us to correct an original builder shortcut: the sink had previously been tucked behind a bathroom wall for plumbing convenience. Functionally, it didn’t belong there—so we moved it where it could actually work for the kitchen.
The range and sink swapped positions, giving the cooking area proper landing space on both sides and allowing the back wall to become the focal point it was always meant to be. One remaining wall—load-bearing and separating the kitchen from the living room—was thoughtfully built out to house the refrigerator, double oven, and pantry storage without disrupting flow.
Every inch of this kitchen serves a purpose.
We designed only what the kitchen truly needed and left the remaining space to the dining area just off to the side. The island was finished with a built-in drawer microwave, while a wine cooler on the opposite side added functional storage. Anchoring the back wall, a sleek custom range hood was paired with a farmhouse sink on decorative legs, perfectly centered beneath the new window.
This kitchen remodel in New City, NY came together through a series of clear, committed decisions. Walls were removed to open circulation, plumbing was relocated to correct an inherited layout flaw, and the cooking zone was repositioned to give it the space and prominence it deserved. Nothing here was decorative for the sake of it—the plan worked because every move reinforced how the kitchen was meant to function day to day.
The final layer brought everything together: crown and light-rail molding, under-cabinet lighting, glazed off-white cabinetry, and a rich chestnut-tone wood island that adds warmth and contrast.
Sometimes, when it’s done right the first time…
you don’t reinvent it.
You just do it twice.
Another happy client—on to the next.
