A Scarsdale Bathroom Remodel”…

…” From Dated to Delightful: Master Bathroom Update“…

What began as a tired and dated master bathroom is now a thoughtfully refreshed and fully functional space that blends timeless style with modern-day convenience. This transformation wasn’t just about swapping out finishes—it was about rethinking how the space could serve the homeowners every day, both practically and aesthetically.

Before the Remodel

The original space had great potential, but it was burdened by aging finishes, bulky built-ins, and an overall lack of charm. With worn cabinetry, an outdated tub, low soffits, and poor lighting, the bathroom didn’t reflect the homeowners’ style or the value of the home.

Our challenge was to work within the existing plumbing layout while giving the room a completely updated feel. That meant being strategic about material choices and layout adjustments without involving major structural work.

Design Vision

Our goal was to create a bright, open, and timeless bathroom that balanced function with comfort. We wanted the space to feel elevated yet approachable—something the homeowners could enjoy for years to come without it feeling overly trendy.

Key design goals included:

  • Brighten and open up the space
  • Eliminate bulky or outdated elements
  • Improve storage and daily functionality
  • Introduce fresh materials with classic appeal

Highlights of the Remodel

This wasn’t your typical bathroom remodel. Here’s what made it special:

  • Shaker Panel Wainscoting: Unlike many projects where we use tile for the lower wall sections, we chose to install a waterproof shaker panel material throughout the room. This subtle yet classic detail gave the bathroom a timeless, custom-built look.
  • Freestanding Tub & Floor-Mounted Faucet: We removed the built-in tub to open up the space and replaced it with a sleek freestanding model paired with a striking floor-mounted chrome faucet. The change dramatically enhanced the sense of space and style.
  • Custom Vanity with Expanded Storage: The new vanity was made slightly larger than the original, offering improved functionality without overwhelming the room. Thoughtful detailing, practical storage, and updated chrome finishes brought a sense of cohesion.
  • Shower Enhancements: We kept the shower in its original location but made several impactful upgrades. A small linear drain improved drainage and style. We also removed the soffit above the shower—previously just an empty box—to increase ceiling height and make the space feel much taller and airier. A handheld shower was added for versatility and comfort.
  • Chrome Fixtures Throughout: Sleek chrome fixtures were selected to add a clean, modern finish that works beautifully with both traditional and contemporary elements.
  • Thoughtful Lighting: We swapped outdated fixtures for efficient, well-placed lighting that makes the entire room feel brighter and more inviting.
  • Color Palette & Materials: A calm, neutral palette anchored by soft whites and natural textures was used to ensure longevity and visual harmony. The shaker panels, smooth tiles, and warm-toned flooring tied everything together seamlessly.

Execution & Collaboration

One of the standout aspects of this project was how smoothly everything came together. The collaboration between our team and the homeowners was efficient and highly communicative. Every step of the process—from material selection to on-site adjustments—was thoughtfully planned and executed. As a result, we were able to stay both on budget and on schedule.

Even though this remodel didn’t involve moving walls or major plumbing changes, it proves how transformative careful design and smart upgrades can be. Every element was chosen not just to look good, but to improve how the space feels and functions.

Final Result

The finished bathroom is clean, calming, and completely refreshed. It’s a space that feels both new and familiar—designed to be lived in and enjoyed, not just admired.

The homeowners now have a master bathroom that reflects their style, supports their routine, and adds value to their home. And for us, that’s exactly what a remodel should do.
