WHITE ON OAK
This house is part of a gated community where they were all built almost in the same style and sizes, but our Client wasn’t a typical person who just fit in, she wanted something a lot more like her, something that represented her best. A kitchen that fits in with her style and taste, she had a love for natural looking wood tones but she also wanted a clean open concept while maintaining some of the room definition that was already there.
Our design called for a structural beam that was engineered to take out a huge portion of that wall, while keeping a piece of it in tack to
define the kitchen, We accomplish that by sizing the beam long enough so we can post down to the original foundation wall and
columns that was already existing in the basement. We then blocked off that front room access from the kitchen to essentially create another separate area in the house that can be use for overnight guest or simply a room to chill and catch up.
The Entry into the kitchen was also an awkward setup, but we use that to our advantage by straightened it out to create a natural hallway down to the kitchen, saving the pantry and creating a small broom area and using the wall to complete the other separation for the kitchen which lines up perfectly to hold our new range wall, which became the absolutely stunning show stopper for this kitchen.
It would not have been completed without having this beautiful custom hood that took it rightful place over an oven that felt like it was built for a kitchen like this.
The white oak cabinets, mini shaker detail, white island with a one of kind quartz countertop that was handpicked by the owner, it had so much going on here to look at that the backsplash tile just had to be silent so we kept that simple with a standard subway tile so it can stay in the background and let those beautiful white oak shelving that flank that hood do the talking.
This a collaborative effort with the entire team involved to pull this off. Simple yet elegant, dramatic yet calm, a space that is tranquil, that pulls out every bit of function and aesthetics that it could while gracing this home with the warmth that it so desperately needed.
..Another happy client! now onto the next…
