…Just one word ..”GORGEOUS”…
Whole Home Renovation in West Harrison, Westchester County NY
Some homes are renovated. Others are reimagined.
From the moment we first walked through this house, it was clear that it belonged in the latter category. The structure had presence — tall ceilings, solid proportions, and quality craftsmanship typical of its time. Yet the finishes had aged, room separations felt restrictive, and the flow no longer supported how the home wanted to live.
Light existed, but it didn’t travel. Spaces were defined, but not connected. And while certain areas reflected thoughtful investment by previous owners, others — particularly the kitchen — felt disconnected from the scale and potential of the home.
Our role was not to overwrite the house’s character, but to uncover it, refine it, and elevate it into a new design era — one that felt intentional, functional, and deeply personal.
What made this project truly special was the rare level of trust we were given. With minimal restrictions, we were able to design freely — thinking not just room by room, but spatially, architecturally, and holistically.
The home already had strength — solid structure, generous ceiling heights, and a clear sense of presence. The redesign focused on removing what held it back: unnecessary divisions, dated finishes, and blocked light. By opening key areas and reworking how rooms connect, the house was able to reveal its full scale and character, setting the foundation for the transformation shown in the video.
This is the story of a house that asked for more — more light, more intention, more connection. What began as a well-built home with great bones evolved into a fully redefined living experience, shaped by architecture, craftsmanship, and trust. The transformation you’re about to see is not about trends or surface-level updates, but about how skillful design can fundamentally change the way a home lives, feels, and flows.
Foyer — The First Impression
The foyer sets the tone for the entire home, and in this case, it was an opportunity to make a bold yet timeless statement from the very first step inside.
We began by removing the existing floor and introducing a classic black-and-white tile pattern — graphic, confident, and immediately grounding. The flooring establishes a strong visual rhythm that carries through the entry and anchors the surrounding architecture.
The staircase was refined to complement the new direction of the home. Traditional spindles were replaced with sleek black railing balusters, creating contrast and continuity with the flooring below. The handrail was stained to add warmth and depth, balancing the graphic nature of the space.
New wainscot paneling was installed along the walls, adding architectural interest and reinforcing the home’s proportions. A fresh palette of paint completed the transformation, allowing light to reflect naturally while enhancing the crisp detailing throughout the entry.
To finish the space, the front door was replaced — a subtle but powerful upgrade that elevated both curb appeal and interior presence. The result is a foyer that feels intentional, welcoming, and refined — a true introduction to what lies beyond.
Kitchen — Architecture as Function
The kitchen was conceived as the heart of the home — not merely a workspace, but an architectural anchor around which the entire main floor would revolve.
We began by removing the closet and pantry walls that segmented the room, instantly allowing the space to breathe. A 12-foot-wide glass door replaced the existing door and transom, creating a strong visual and physical connection to the deck beyond. To further amplify the flow of natural light, we introduced a nearly floor-to-ceiling window adjacent to the door, ensuring sunlight would reach deep into both the kitchen and living areas throughout the day.
Rather than fight the existing mechanical infrastructure of the house, we embraced it. The main air supply stack — often viewed as a limitation — became an opportunity. We designed a curved banquette that wrapped the structure at seating level, then echoed that curve overhead, extending it into the ceiling plane. From there, a custom soffit gently wrapped the kitchen and living room, unifying the space with a sculptural ceiling detail.
This is where architecture and craftsmanship met. The curves were not decorative afterthoughts — they were measured, refined, and built with precision. The result is a space that feels both bold and effortless.
The appliance wall was treated with equal care. Panel-ready Miele refrigeration units were customized with mirrored glass, allowing them to visually dissolve into the space rather than dominate it. A softly lit LED inset, flanked by discreet pull-out wine glass holders, added depth without distraction.
A professional-grade range, solid brass pot filler, and a custom hood accented in matching brass created a focal moment — functional, timeless, and unapologetically confident.
At the center, the island stretched over ten feet, anchoring the room both visually and socially. Beneath its clean exterior lived a concealed water filtration system capable of dispensing hot and cold seltzer at the touch of a button — a detail that speaks to the project’s quiet sophistication. Sculptural pendant lights above completed the composition, drawing the eye upward and reinforcing the room’s generous volume.

Dining Room — Reframed and Reimagined
The dining room was thoughtfully reworked to feel both connected and distinct — a space designed for gathering, conversation, and everyday elegance.
We began by relocating the entrance to improve circulation and create a more intuitive flow from the surrounding rooms. This architectural adjustment allowed the dining area to feel purposeful rather than transitional.
Custom built-in buffet cabinetry and storage were designed and installed to anchor the room, providing both function and visual weight. The built-ins were carefully proportioned to feel integrated — not added on — reinforcing the room’s sense of permanence.
Dining Room — Before Renovation
A beautiful wall-mounted chandelier became a focal point, casting warm, ambient light and enhancing the room’s atmosphere. To further elevate the space, wallpaper was installed throughout, introducing texture and depth without overwhelming the design.
Behind the scenes, new electrical work was completed to support the updated lighting and layout, ensuring the room performs as beautifully as it looks.
The result is a dining room that feels tailored and timeless — a space that effortlessly supports both everyday meals and special occasions.
Living Room — A Modern Reinterpretation
The living room was designed to flow seamlessly from the kitchen while maintaining its own sense of presence.
At its core, the traditional wood-burning fireplace was reinterpreted through a modern lens. Floor-to-ceiling quartz with subtle veining wrapped the structure, transforming it into a three-dimensional architectural element rather than a surface-level feature. Floating cabinetry on either side added both balance and storage, reinforcing the room’s symmetry.
Above the fireplace, what appears to be framed artwork is in fact a concealed television — a solution that preserves the room’s clean aesthetic without sacrificing modern living.
The result is a living room that feels grounded yet refined — designed for gathering, but equally suited for stillness.
Home Office — Purposeful and Personal
Just off the living room, one of the additional rooms was transformed into a dedicated home office — a space designed for focus, creativity, and calm.
Drawing inspiration from the navy tones introduced in the kitchen, we enveloped the room in a rich blue, immediately giving it depth and intention. Brass hardware and a coordinating brass light fixture added warmth and continuity, while a beautifully crafted oak desk grounded the space with natural texture.
The balance here was deliberate — refined but not formal, masculine yet inviting. It’s a room that feels designed, not improvised, and one that fits seamlessly into the larger narrative of the home.
Kids Bathroom — Refined and timeless
The kid bathroom was completely reimagined as a true retreat — a space designed to slow the pace of everyday life while delivering exceptional performance.
Outdated fixtures were replaced with modern technology and thoughtful comforts, including heated floors, heated towel warmers, and a smart toilet system that blends innovation seamlessly into the design. Storage was carefully planned and integrated, ensuring the space remained uncluttered and calm.
Material selections were intentionally restrained, allowing texture, proportion, and light to take the lead. The result is a bathroom that feels quietly luxurious — not overly ornate, but deeply considered. Every element serves a purpose, elevating daily routines into moments of comfort and ease.
To improve both function and flow, we reworked the bathroom’s access points entirely. The original hallway entrance was closed off, and two new doorways were introduced — one connecting directly to the baby’s room and another to the parents’ bedroom. This reconfiguration allowed us to expand the footprint of the bathroom while creating convenient, shared access for everyday use. The result is a space that feels larger, more intuitive, and seamlessly connected to the surrounding rooms.
Design choices were driven by personality as much as performance. Pink — her favorite color — became the foundation of the palette, carried through a custom pink vanity and complemented by pink-and-gold tile selections that add warmth and subtle sparkle. Heated floors and a heated towel warmer bring comfort into daily routines, while a lighted niche adds both function and a soft glow to the bathing experience. The tub area was treated as a focal point, anchored by a floor-mounted tub filler that introduces just the right amount of elegance and drama. Together, these elements create a bathroom that feels special and personal — a space designed not just to grow with her, but to make everyday moments feel a little magical.
Guest Bathroom — A Daily Retreat
The secondary bathroom received the same level of attention and craftsmanship, ensuring continuity throughout the home.
While tailored to its role within the household, this space was designed with longevity in mind. Updated fixtures, clean lines, and a timeless palette create a bathroom that feels fresh and current without chasing trends. Heated elements and improved storage further enhance functionality, making the space as practical as it is polished.
Together, both bathrooms reflect a shared design philosophy — one that prioritizes comfort, performance, and enduring style — while allowing each space to maintain its own identity within the home.

Sometimes, the most impactful transformations come from a few strategic changes. In this bathroom, rethinking the layout and fixture placement made all the difference. By swapping the locations of the toilet and vanity, the room immediately felt more open and balanced. A single-panel, doorless glass enclosure was introduced for the walk-in shower, removing visual barriers and allowing the space to read as one continuous volume. The result is a spa-like environment that feels calm, open, and refined — an upgrade that instantly elevated the room’s presence.
These design decisions weren’t about trends, but longevity. Clean lines, unobstructed views, and carefully chosen materials create a bathroom that will feel current for years to come. It’s the kind of space that surprises guests — one that feels intentionally designed rather than simply updated, and one they may be reluctant to leave.
Master Bedroom — A Private Retreat
The primary bedroom was reconfigured to feel more expansive, intentional, and connected, without sacrificing privacy.
To achieve this, we selectively removed a portion of an adjacent bedroom, allowing the primary suite to extend into a previously underutilized area. Rather than leaving the space fully open, we installed a set of double pocket doors — creating flexibility. When open, the room feels larger and more fluid; when closed, it becomes a quiet, self-contained retreat.
A newly constructed three-sided fireplace was introduced to anchor the space and establish a strong architectural focal point. The fireplace provides warmth and visual balance, while a built-in television above integrates seamlessly into the design, maintaining clean lines and a sense of order.
To add depth and character, we applied a textured wall treatment that brings a subtle three-dimensional quality to the room. This detail interacts softly with light throughout the day, enhancing the room’s atmosphere without overpowering it.
The space was completed with a calm, cohesive color palette and carefully finished details throughout, rounding out the room into a serene primary bedroom designed for rest, privacy, and everyday comfort.
The Final Layer — From House to Home
Additional updates throughout the home — including replacing traditional balusters with sleek metal ones, fresh paint, and newly stained floors — helped unify the entire space and reinforce its modern direction.
This project unfolded over approximately 11 months during one of the most challenging periods in recent years. Through every obstacle, the shared commitment to quality, collaboration, and thoughtful design never wavered.
Standing in the home today — seeing family photos on the walls, the dog moving freely through the space, and the rooms fully lived in — is the true measure of success. This was more than a renovation. It was a transformation that respected the home’s past while designing confidently for its future.
Another happy client… and now onto the next.
