…”It was a hit”…

Designing and remodeling this kitchen was such a fun project for us. We wanted to keep this simple but like most projects once

They are on the cutting table; you find all sorts of ways to add tons of value to the design without compromising the space and the client

Was all in. We just went for it. Once we began to dig into the space to try and squeeze out all of the value in it, we quickly realize that this

Transformation will have a bigger impact on the space than was originally intended or expected.

The kitchen was old, it was part of the only room that didn’t really fit into the client style, frankly, it didn’t fit into the house either,

It was tired, it was back in the day when cherry was a thing, it has not been a thing for a long time though, so it was time for an upgrade into

The future. The layout was not optimal either, even though the kitchen was a typical standard size it wasn’t functional, they didn’t make

Good use of the space. Once two or more persons goes into the space, it immediately felt cramp.

We tore it all out, stared from scratch again, we liked where the sink was so we kept it there, we remove the refrigerator because it got

In the way of adding critical storage so we relocated it where it was not going to be a problem for the design. We then added a peninsular

Into the space, we could have made it an island but the opportunity cost to the space was too high so we opted for the peninsular instead. We found

Enough room now to upgrade the range from a typical standard 30” size to a 36” wide version of it, along with also making the range hood larger.

We kept the floors; they were in really good shape so out team discussed and made the decision to work from underneath the second floor to move

Any lines or pipes since we did not want to disturb the wood floors above. Then it was time to really make this space come alive.

The client had added on an enclosed porch a few years ago, it was exactly her style, a place where the family hangs a lot, but the view to it

From the kitchen was limited and that’s what we turned our attention to next, we surgically cut in a huge 5 feet window into the wall and

Open up the room in such a way that it immediately changes the way that both the kitchen and dining room felt. Then we cut in an access space

To the back of the pantry to open up a glass cabinet facing the dining room. It was almost dead space in the back of the pantry anyways so by

Reversing the access to it from the back made perfect sense, since we not only use it to add some fancy storage, we tile it like a rock pattern

Then used a custom full glass door over it along with some remote LED lighting that is controlled from the client’s phone.

We kept the room light and bright, only brining in the colors for the two-tone cabinets, in grey and white style, light bluish tiles to compliment

The room, we swapped out the back door and the doors to both the pantry and the basement making them all glass which falls just in line

With the open contemporary feel that we were swinging for. It was a hit; we didn’t miss and we scored really high on the approval board with

The entire family. Now the space is a retreat, a lounge, a homework station, then at evenings, you can turn the lights down low and it will

Be transformed into an adult spot in all the right places.   The entire team did a wonderful Job on this one and we are happy to share it with

The world.

One happy client now onto the next.
