Award-Winning Kitchen Remodel in Pelham Manor, NY
Design Around a Chandelier
Award-Winning Kitchen Remodel in Pelham Manor
By the time we sat down to talk about this kitchen, the homeowners had ideas â strong ones â but they werenât fully convinced the direction they were leaning toward would deliver the impact they imagined. We talked. We listened. We explored how they lived, how they entertained, and what they wanted this space to feel like every day.
About an hour into the conversation, everything clicked. We werenât just designing a kitchen â we were designing around a single, bold statement.
One Defining Element: The Chandelier
Every great space has a moment.
In this kitchen, that moment was the chandelier.
Suspended in the center of the room, it commands attention â dramatic, architectural, unapologetic. Almost regal. From that one piece, everything else followed: the cabinetry color palette, the iron bar stools, the rolling ladder, the hood design, and the appliance selection. Nothing here was accidental.
This wasnât dĂ©cor added at the end.
This was design built from the inside out.
These images highlight how intentional the transformation truly was. Beyond the visual impact, this kitchen was carefully designed to improve flow, storage, and everyday usability â without sacrificing character. Custom cabinetry, thoughtful proportions, and layered materials work together to create a space that feels both elevated and livable, striking a balance between form and function.
TRANSFORMATION VIDEO:
What makes this remodel especially meaningful is how seamlessly modern design was integrated into a home with history. Each solution â from concealed storage to integrated appliances and technology â was tailored to the homeownersâ lifestyle, resulting in a kitchen that feels personal, timeless, and built to last. Itâs this attention to detail and restraint that helped set this project apart and led to its recognition as Best Kitchen in Westchester Magazine (2016).
REMODELED KITCHEN PHOTOS:
These photos capture the full transformation â from a dated kitchen to a bold, thoughtfully designed space built around one defining element. Every choice, from custom storage solutions to integrated technology and finishes, was made to support both function and lifestyle. The end result is a kitchen that feels as good to live in as it looks â and one that earned Best Kitchen in Westchester Magazine (2016).
Solving Real Design Challenges (Without Compromise)
To say this project wasnât challenging would be an understatement.
One major hurdle was the corner sink location. Rather than surrendering valuable storage, we engineered custom pull-out drawers beneath the sink â turning whatâs usually wasted space into one of the most efficient areas of the kitchen.
Another challenge? Technology.
The homeowners are huge sports fans, and integrating a television into the space â without visible wires, IR cables, or clutter â was non-negotiable. The result is a seamless, bar-style viewing experience that feels intentional, not intrusive.
Storage That Works as Hard as the Design
Storage was another concern, so we pushed hard here.
-
Deep drawers along the island maximize both width and depth
-
Side-access storage adds function without visual bulk
-
Cabinetry was extended down to the counters to flank the range, hiding everyday items while keeping the space clean and composed
-
A pull-out pantry beside the refrigerator delivers serious capacity without breaking the flow
-
Even beneath the sink, additional drawers were incorporated â a small detail that makes a big difference in daily use
Every inch was designed to earn its place.
A Kitchen With History (1969 â 2016)
One of our favorite details lives quietly within the space.
On the island, youâll spot a framed photo of the original kitchen that once occupied this room â the very kitchen that was featured on the cover of Kitchen & Bath Magazine in 1969 and celebrated as one of the best kitchens of its era.
Forty-seven years later, this reimagined space completed the circle. Thoughtfully redesigned for modern living while honoring its past, the kitchen went on to be recognized as Best Kitchen in Westchester Magazine (2016) â a moment that made the story feel truly full-circle.
Best Kitchen in Westchester Magazine â 2016
Faith would have it that this fresh interpretation â modern, bold, and deeply personal â went on to be recognized as Best Kitchen in Westchester Magazine (2016). An honor weâre incredibly proud of, and one that reflects the level of thought, craftsmanship, and intention behind every decision made in this space.
Awards matter â not because they flatter, but because they affirm a design approach rooted in listening, problem-solving, and creating kitchens that truly work for the people who live in them. This project remains a defining example of that philosophy, and one weâre still proud to stand behind years later.
